Netorei Karta – The Radical Anti-Zionist Jews

Netorei Karta – oppose the existence of the State of Israel, Participate in anti-Israel events and regard themselves as “Palestinians” and not as Israeli citizens. The denial of a Jewish state is their prime agenda. Who are these Jews and where do their values clash with the rest of the Jewish world?

This ultra-orthodox group gained much publicity lately for various demonstrations inflaming the delicate balance in Jerusalem again.

Netorei Karta (“Keepers of the town” in Aramaic) is a group of Haredi Jews known for their fierce opposition to the idea of a Jewish state.  They very strongly believe that a Jewish state before the arrival days of the Messiah is not legitimate. The basis for this is in the G’mara: שלא יעלו ישראל בחומה

שלא ימרדו בגויים

שלא ידחקו את הקץ

They differ from other Orthodox and Haredi movements in their uncompromising attitude towards the state. While all other ultra-Orthodox streams have come to accept Israel as a fact, and are committed to support it at least as a Jewish community and even participate in its politics, Netori-Karta maintain an extreme and uncompromising opposition. In their struggle they went as far as travelling to Iran to shake hands with the Holocaust denying president Mahmud Ahmadinedschad (see video below). This move has put a fence between Netorei Karta end the rest of the Jewish world. clip_image001

Then why are they here? And why does the governement support them? If they consider themselves Palistinians perhaps they would be more comfortable waiting for the Messiah in Ramallah and not in Jerusalem. In my view, we all would not be here if G-d had not given us the means to build this state. I don’t know if I believe that the Messiah will come as one person…I think that in all of us there is a bit of the Messiah…and working together we build a legitimate homeland.

“In every age, a hero or sage, arose to our aid”… this time that hero or sage is us….

  7. hana mark says:

They should be evicted from the State of Israel. Maybe Gaza or Iran would be the appropriate place for them.
Shlomo Carlbach wrote a song which began “Israel has no friends in the world” this is true so we don’t need to accept the anti Israeli Netorei Karta and the demonstrations.

  8. Albert Reingewirtz says:

What should have been the Gaza solution, apply it to Nturei Karta. Cut water, electricity, food, close roads and build a wall around Mea Shearim. Let them grow their own food, have their own doctors, their own everything in Mea Shearim.

  9. Shaul says:

To Micki and the other Israeli goyim and erev rav posting here. I will answer you: why are they here?

Because the Jews are a 3,300 year old people and Israel is a 60 year old state. Neturei Karta was here *before* there was such a thing as the state of Israel. You ignoramuses should understand that: you Israelis are the interlopers, the new ones, the ones who don’t belong. Go back to Europe and Russia and live like the goyim you are. Eretz Yisroel laYehudim, Yisra’elim yovadu.

P.S. They don’t take any money from the state. And there are a few groups of Neturei Karta, the ones who met with the Arab leaders are not from the original group. You Israeli victims of stereotypes, why are you so quick to smear everybody with the acts of a few misguided people?

The original Neturei Karta group is good Jews with a position based on Torah principles. The author is not correct that all other Jewish groups participate in Israeli elections, etc. All true Jews know Israel is an evil state. However, we were here before you, and we will be here after you are gone.

I’m sure you don’t have the courage to post this since all of your readers are Tzioi goyim and apikorsim and none of you ever had any Jewish education. What’s worse, you are too close-minded and full of self-hatred to learn the truth. You can’t handle the truth because it shows everything you believe in is wrong.

  10. David says:

Shaul, I suppose you are Sephardi then. Maybe your parents/grandparents were from Morocco, or Irak, or Yemen. Roughly 50% of the Israeli Jews you despise fit in that description. Do you? Or are most Neturei Karta descended from Hungarian Jews. Are they not? You Neturei Karta externally follow some practices of the Old Yishuv. But it is you who don’t belong.
